Our goal is to have the experience no more expensive than going to a movie. |

Visitors and Admissions | We expect approximately 250,000-500,000 visitors per year. We will have modest visitor fees so that MIM is accessible to everyone.
We also plan to actively encourage students from area schools grades 4-12 to participate in school tours.
Funding | MIM is an established 501(c)3 private operating foundation and will actively pursue a wide range of charitable contributions.
Admissions fees, memberships, individual (or private), corporate and foundation gifts, as well as gift shop and restaurant income will cover most operating expenses.
Until MIM is well established, research and academic missions will be moderate, allowing us to maintain a reasonable expense level. We will expand our academic and research functions as MIM grows.
Financial Overview | Forecasted expenses for the entire project (land, architecture, and initial collections) are currently projected at $100 million.
To ensure sustainability into the future, MIM will establish a significant endowment. Income from the endowment will be used to provide operating support, enabling MIM to remain affordable to a wide variety of guests, in addition to supporting the ongoing acquisition of instruments of historic and artistic significance.
Our mission is to engage a wide audience of supporters — both individual and corporate. To that end, we are interested in and highly motivated to develop lasting partnerships that will grow with the organization.
Timeline | Temporary headquarters have been established in Tempe, AZ. Our goal is to open the museum in early 2010.
