Sales Associate, Part Time

Essential duties:
Understand the mission statements of both the MIM and retail operations in order to enhance the museum experience for each guest while helping generate revenue for the Museum.

  • Provide excellent customer service to all MIM guests.
  • Process sales transactions accurately using CounterPoint SQL.
  • Perform shop opening and closing functions.
  • Assist with restocking, cleaning, and display in the store and retail storage areas.
  • Assist with cycle counts and inventory in store and storage areas.
  • Ability to work varied hours in order to accommodate extended hours and special events.
  • Follow department dress code.
  • Assist with other projects as required.

 

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or at least 2 years of retail experience in a museum, book, or music store is desirable. Knowledge of music and musical instruments preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with visitors, staff, volunteers and members.
  • Ability to compute rates and percentages.
  • Ability to balance a cash register.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, lift and move up to 40 lbs.

This is a part-time position which may include weekends or evenings. This position is eligible to participate in the medical plan and is eligible for paid vacation. Pay is $10.00 per hour (no commission). All positions at MIM require a background check, drug screen and assessment.
