In honor of Elvis Week, join us for a celebration of the life of the “King of Rock and Roll.” Come and listen to special Curator Talks about Elvis Presley and his music, participate in hands-on activities, watch an iconic Elvis movie, and test your knowledge of “The King” in our MIMQuiz!

Instrument Spotlight: Guitars

Celebrate the groundbreaking music of “The King” by learning a few of his most memorable songs on the guitar.

Film Screening of Elvis: That’s the Way It Is
10:45 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
Don’t miss the chance to see Elvis on the big screen! This 1970 concert documentary, directed by Denis Sanders, shows Elvis’s milestone summer of appearances at the International Hotel in Las Vegas, the Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum, and more. Watch as the camera takes you from backstage to the front row, following Elvis’s performances from rehearsal to onstage.

Curator Talk: “Elvis Has Not Left the Building!”
1:30–2:30 p.m.
Join Dr. Richard Walter, MIM’s curator for United States / Canada and Europe, for a special discussion of exciting artifacts on view in the new Elvis Presley display in the Artist Gallery. On loan directly from the Graceland Archives in Memphis, these items all illustrate significant moments in Presley’s diverse career and include authentic instruments, clothing, and more.
