Thank you to all volunteer team members for their dedication throughout the year

Last week, MIM hosted its Seventh Annual Volunteer Team Member Recognition Event to honor the dedication and hard work of its more than four hundred volunteers. Hosted at the museum’s main courtyard, the event celebrated all volunteer team members (VTMs) and conferred awards for outstanding achievement.

The awards presentation recognized Joyce Filupeit with the Volunteer Team Member Mentor Award; Teresa Tate, assistant retail manager of the Museum Store, with the Team Member Mentor Award; VTM Bart Moser with the Guest Experience Award; and Doug Whitney with the Volunteer Team Member of the Year Award.

Volunteer team members support MIM in a variety of ways, including leading guided tours throughout the galleries; working with school, youth, and adult groups; helping at special events; answering guests’ questions; and more. Their work impacts nearly every area of MIM. In 2016 alone, more than four hundred volunteer team members contributed 47,180 hours to serve the museum and its mission. MIM sincerely appreciates their commitment.

“We really wanted our deep appreciation and gratitude to come across in the ‘You’ve Got Soul!’ Volunteer Team Member Recognition Event, and I think we succeeded! The volunteer team does so much for MIM on a day-to-day basis that we wanted this special night to recognize all their efforts,” says Jessica Davis, Volunteer Department associate.
