Demonstration: ASU School of Arts, Media, and Engineering Projects 10:15–11:00 a.m. Central El Río Join staff and students from the ASU School of Arts, Media, and Engineering’s Wearable Music course as they discuss their innovative educational program and demonstrate their array of interactive, digital, algorithm-based instruments.
Instrument Spotlight: Modular Synthesizer 10:15–11:00 a.m. Central El Río Experiment with electronic sounds on a modular synthesizer similar to the one in our United States / Canada Gallery.
Performance: Anthony Obr 11:30 a.m.–noon North El Río Listen to innovative sounds from modular synthesizers with a performance from musician Anthony Obr.
Instrument Spotlight: Active Shoulder Rest 12:15–12:45 p.m. Central El Río Explore amplification with a modified electronic shoulder rest for the violin.
Workshop: AZ Beat Lab 1:00–2:00 p.m. Event Room 2 Create your own music! Learn the fundamentals of beat making, sampling, and live performance with the AZ Beat Lab.
Gallery Tour: Rich Walter 2:30 p.m.–3:00 p.m. United States / Canada Gallery Learn more about MIM’s collection of rare electronic instruments with curator Rich Walter as he guides a brief tour and illustrates pivotal moments in the history of amplified and electric music.
Performance: ASU Popular Music Student Showcase 3:15–4:00 p.m. North El Río Hear students from ASU’s Popular Music program perform high-caliber digital music on synthesizers and using live and interactive sound design.
