The Jazz Women All Stars were created by Minnesota Music Hall of Fame vocalist and jazz radio personality Patty Peterson. For this show, the Jazz Women All Stars feature Peterson, keyboardist Mary Louise Knutson, bassist Joan Griffith, drummer Sheila Earley, and saxophonist Mary Petrich—gifted musicians who fill the stage with their talent and who have performed and recorded with Doc Severinsen, Oleta Adams, Bobby Lyle, and many more.
Vocalist Patty Peterson is a member of Minnesota’s First Family of Music. She has won eight coveted Minnesota Music Awards—seven for best vocalist and one for best jazz recording—and was named Minnesota’s Jazz Hero of 2020 by the Jazz Journalists Association. Peterson’s five solo records feature luminaries such as Sheila E., David Hazeltine, Stokley Williams, and Ira Sullivan, and she has performed sold-out concerts all over the country.
Minneapolis-based jazz pianist and composer Mary Louise Knutson is renowned for her warm and inviting tone, broad range of emotional expression, and distinctive compositions. From 2010 to 2018, Knutson toured with trumpeter and former Tonight Show bandleader Doc Severinsen, and she has also performed with Dizzy Gillespie, Bobby McFerrin, Dianne Reeves, and many more jazz greats.
