Earn the Music Merit Badge at MIM. Using a specially designed guide booklet, Scouts will engage in five fun activities to satisfy badge requirements, including attending a live musical performance, crafting a musical instrument, participating in a music-making workshop, and viewing the galleries. This Scouting event coincides with ’Tis the Season: Holidays at MIM, a celebration of seasonal music traditions from around the world. Don’t miss Scouts BSA Badge Day at MIM and this special opportunity to earn a badge.
A ratio of 1 chaperone to 5 Scouts is required, and this is not a drop-off event. Preregistration is strongly encouraged.
Please bring your blue card with you. Music Merit Badge counselors will be on site to assist.
For additional information, please call 480.478.6047 or email programs@MIM.org.
At Boy Scout Badge Days, MIM provides the spaces, activities, instructions, and materials for Scouts to satisfy all the requirements for the Music Merit Badge. Some activities are self-guided, meaning Scouts can complete them at their own pace, but others are on a schedule. Please carefully review the registration packet sent out prior to the event for a complete schedule of required activities and information about your visit.
Preregistration is not required, but it is strongly encouraged. Having an accurate head count prior to the day of the event allows MIM to prepare sufficient materials and ensure a smooth and successful day for your Scouts.
Boy Scout Badge Days at MIM are open to individual Scouts and entire troops alike. All Scouts must have an adult chaperone with them at the museum for the duration of their visit as this is not a drop-off event.
Each guest who enters the museum will need to purchase his or her own admission, which is nontransferable. The reduced ticket price will apply to all adult chaperones who come to MIM to be with their Scout throughout the day.
All you really need is your blue card; just make sure it has been signed by your unit leader prior to your visit. If possible, please leave backpacks and other large bags as well as water bottles at home or in the car; otherwise, we are happy to check your items for pickup later in the day. For details about personal items at MIM, please review our Museum Policies.
No outside food or drink is allowed inside the museum, and no museum spaces will be made available to Scouts to eat food brought from home. We gladly offer a 20 percent discount at Café Allegro for Scout families on Badge Day.
Check-in for registered Scouts is from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m., and check-out starts at noon. We work to create a schedule so that all badge requirements can be completed in approximately three hours, but that is not always possible. Scouts are welcome to leave as soon as they get their blue cards signed; however, we hope you’ll stick around to take advantage of all the activities and educational opportunities offered at MIM that day. Come for the badge but stay for the experience!
