Socks in the Frying Pan is an award-winning trio from County Clare on the west coast of Ireland, the universal hub of Irish traditional music. The band’s dynamic vocal harmonies, virtuosic musicianship, and onstage wit have captivated audiences around the world.
The trio’s high-energy performances, breathtaking instrumental prowess, and dynamic harmonies came as byproducts of three friends—Aodán Coyne on guitar and vocals, Shane Hayes on accordion, and Fiachra Hayes on fiddle and banjo—playing in pubs together, learning from one another, and having fun. Their blend of traditional Irish melodies and modern, personal flair has won the trio critical acclaim and accolades, including a Best New Band award from the Irish Music Association in 2014.
After two years of online antics during the COVID pandemic, the trio returned to stages with a rerelease of its first live recording, Raw & Reel. Recorded in front of a sold-out crowd at the Glór Theatre in the band’s hometown of Ennis, Ireland, the record captures not only the trio’s virtuosic musicianship, but the fun, joy, and soul that goes into each of its live performances.
