PHOENIX (September 1, 2020) – The Musical Instrument Museum (MIM) is pleased to announce Educator Appreciation Month (September 1–30), sponsored by KPMG. Throughout September, prekindergarten through 12th-grade educators, registered student teachers, administrators, principals, and homeschool educators receive free general admission to MIM upon presentation of their school ID, fingerprint clearance card, or affidavit of intent at Guest Service.

For the month of September, teachers will receive a 10% discount on their entire purchase at the Museum Store on most non-sale merchandise (some exceptions apply). This offer does not apply to previously purchased items. Teachers are asked to present school ID at the time of purchase.

The education community has been deeply impacted by the global pandemic, and educators have faced new and unexpected challenges. MIM thanks educators for their creativity and flexibility during this time and is happy to support teachers’ educational goals. Teachers are invited to utilize new virtual educator resources, including synchronous and asynchronous materials. Virtual educator resources are developed to enhance curriculum and include downloadable supplemental materials, such as age-appropriate hands-on activities and lesson plans with video clips and photos. MIM’s virtual curriculum aligns with AZ academic standards in a wide range of subject areas. Materials are available at MIM.org.

MIM is grateful to KPMG, a global network of professional firms providing audit, tax, and advisory services, for their sponsorship of Educator Appreciation Month. KPMG’s Family for Literacy program (KFFL) has a mission to eradicate childhood illiteracy by putting new books into the hands of children in need and developing the next generation of young leaders through reading.

“KPMG is honored to be a sponsor for MIM’s Educator Appreciation Month. We have a shared commitment with MIM to promote education and early childhood literacy, which we support through KPMG’s Family for Literacy program (KFFL). The ability to host programs that bring music and books together and embrace the synergies of both mediums can be truly magical. We thank MIM and educators for making the magic happen!” says Melinda A. Xanthos, managing partner of KPMG Phoenix.

MIM has thoroughly reviewed its daily operations and has implemented new measures designed to support the health and safety of our community. Visit MIM.org to see our safety precautions and plan your visit.
