In their 27 years together, celebrated Los Angeles culture mashers Ozomatli have grown from hometown heroes into cultural ambassadors. The sextet has always juggled two key identities—they are both the voice of their city and citizens of the world.

Their music is an urban-Latino-and-beyond collision of hip hop and salsa, dancehall and cumbia, samba and funk, merengue and comparsa, East Los Angeles R&B and New Orleans second line, Jamaican ragga and Indian raga. The group has long followed a key mantra: it will take you around the world by taking you around Los Angeles.

Ozomatli’s newest album, Marching On, was released in 2022.
