To support social distancing, we are limiting the number of guests at each activity. Visit Guest Service on the day of the event to check availability; participation is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Maraca Craft 9:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m. South El Río Get creative and craft your very own maraca, an iconic instrument heard in many Latin music genres that have a foothold in Arizona. Stop by and pick up a free craft kit to assemble at MIM or at home.
Photo Booth 9:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m. El Río Have your picture taken with our hands-free photo booth and digitally share your pictures instantly! Tag us with #MIMphx for a chance to be featured on our social media.
Pop-Up Performance: Persian Classical Music 10:45 a.m., 12:45 p.m., and 2:30 p.m. El Río Immerse yourself in a 15-minute performance of Persian classical music with Phoenix-based artist Saman Mahmoudi as he improvises traditional melodies on the santur, an Iranian hammered dulcimer.
Drumming Workshop 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. Main Courtyard Join AZ Rhythm Connection and learn the basics of African, Latin, and pop-music hand drumming with master instructor Frank Thompson. Each outdoor session will last 30 minutes, and drums will be sanitized before and after use.
