Flor de Toloache stuns at the crossroads of fusion and mariachi girl magic.
—NPR
Flor de Toloache is set to revolutionize the Mexican genre from inside-out—from literally wearing the pants to expanding the boundaries of its folk sounds.
—New York Daily News
Latin Grammy–winning all-female group Flor de Toloache mixes tradition and innovation, breaking boundaries with its edgy, versatile, and fresh take on traditional Latin American music. The talented New York ensemble, comprising diverse ethnicities and musical backgrounds, transcends culture and gender by forging new paths. Flor de Toloache has graced renowned stages in Europe and Asia and has extensively toured the United States and Latin America. The group has released three studio albums since forming in 2008, and it recently released Florecita Rockera, a compilation of unforgettable anthems inspired by the great rock classics that left their mark on the group’s sound. In May, Flor de Toloache released “Soledad,” the first single from its forthcoming album.
The all-female Phoenix quintet Las Chollas Peligrosas comes from a lineage that spans the Americas—from Venezuela to Costa Rica to Mexico to the United States. The members’ diverse heritage inspires them to draw upon a wide range of traditional and popular Latin music subgenres and other musical influences. Five-part bilingual vocals, accordion, violin, classical guitar, percussion, and upright bass create a unique blend of rhythm and melody birthed from their heritage, their bond, and their connection to the sacred desert. In the spirit of their beautiful but prickly namesake, the cholla cactus, Las Chollas Peligrosas speak to truth and empowerment in the name of human rights and cultural awareness. Their songs are designed to shine a light on social justice causes and inspire action within communities.
