Formed more than a decade ago in Bogotá, Colombia, by singer Catalina García and guitarists Santiago Prieto and Jairo Alfonso, Monsieur Periné has cultivated a following by blending the spirit of 1930s music with the joyous and sophisticated sounds of contemporary Latin American pop. It is a worldly, boundary-blurring approach that places the group in the same echelon as contemporaries such as Natalia Lafourcade, Troker, Carla Morrison, and Bomba Estéreo.

García’s effervescent vocals match perfectly with the uniquely colorful visual style masterminded by Colombian artist José Arboleda in their surreal album art and concert clothing. The band has released three albums: their 2012 debut, Hecho a Mano; the Latin Grammy-nominated 2015 follow-up, Caja De Música; and 2018’s Grammy-nominated Encanto Tropical.
