Chartrand’s brilliant combination of folk and Americana, with a touch of Southern rock, country and jazz, creates some of the sweetest sounds around.
Incendiary resonator work, flawless delivery and tunes that beg you to immerse yourself in the music. Eric Ramsey is more than just the Blues.
—Phoenix Blues Society
Walt Richardson is a kind of neighborhood good-vibe merchant who, for the better part of two decades, has fronted the much-adored Walt Richardson and Morning Star, a sundry-styled blend of happy-faced vets playing with aplomb a “world pop” that has added much color to . . . the Tempe music scene.
—Phoenix New Times
Brian Chartrand, Eric Ramsey, and Walt Richardson are three Arizona-based songwriters with different styles and approaches. Join them for a night of top-notch music and entertaining stories behind the songs.
Brian Chartrand’s projects—Live From Laurel Canyon, the Sweet Remains, and the Project—have solidified his status as a local and national talent. Equally comfortable performing in a myriad of ensembles, Chartrand shines as a songwriter, bringing a masterful and sensitive touch to heartfelt lyrics. He has been making music in Phoenix, Arizona, since 2003.
With soaring vocals and organic arrangements, Eric Ramsey writes from experience, at times humorous and always thought-provoking. His arrangements and delivery encompass a spectrum of styles from delicate fingerpicking to raucous, bluesy bottleneck slide. Ramsey is a two-time champion of the Phoenix Blues Society’s Blues Showdown, a semifinalist at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, and a finalist in the Telluride Blues Challenge. He’s a past winner of the Stefan George Memorial (Tucson Folk Festival) Songwriting Competition and has been tapped for the prestigious Songwriter’s Showcase produced by Tempe Center for the Arts and filmed for PBS.
Walt Richardson is a Tempe music legend who has been playing his own take on folk, reggae, and rock in the local community for over thirty years. He has toured extensively in the U.S. and has shared the stage with artists such as Carlos Santana, Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers, Third World, Steel Pulse, Burning Spear, and more.
