Valerie June Hockett is a Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter from Tennessee. Her music is steeped in the traditions of the South and blends folk, soul, blues, gospel, and traditional Appalachian elements into a refreshingly timeless sound that sits outside any particular musical era.

She has released three critically acclaimed solo albums and has written songs for such legendary artists as Mavis Staples and the Blind Boys of Alabama. She is also best-selling poet; her first book, Maps for the Modern World, is a collection of lyrical poems and original illustrations about cultivating community, awareness, and harmony with our surroundings as we move fearlessly toward our dreams.
